Librio or Looma Stories: the comparison

Librio makes lovely hand-drawn picture books: you build your child’s character in its configurator, preview the whole book for free, and choose from more than 30 languages and dialects. Looma Stories takes a different path. Your child is drawn from their real photos, so they recognise themselves, and up to 5 characters can join them, each drawn from a photo. You get the eBook first, then read the whole book, change any word and redraw any picture before deciding on the hardcover. The story with the hardcover costs €28.98 before shipping at Looma Stories, and a Librio hardcover costs €44.99.

Who wrote this comparison

This comparison is written by Looma Stories, one of the two brands compared. We have no link with Librio, a brand that belongs to its owner. Every figure comes from the official website of the brand concerned, with the link and the date it was checked at the bottom of the page. When a fact is not published, we say so instead of guessing. Prices and delivery times change: check them on each brand’s website before ordering.

What Looma Stories does differently

  • Your child, drawn from their photos. You upload a few photos and Looma draws your child from them, so the hero has their face, their hair and their smile. At Librio, you build the character in a configurator from name, skin tone, eyes, hair, hairstyle and glasses (https://librio.com/en/personalised-childrens-books/the-tree-the-key-and-me).
  • The whole family, each from a photo. Up to 5 characters, 3 of them main: siblings, a grandparent, the family dog. Each one is drawn from their own photo and stays the same from page to page.
  • A story that starts from your idea. You describe it in your own words (a holiday memory, your child’s passion, a new baby brother), or start from a guided theme. Each Librio title has its own story, and Librio’s help centre explains that the hero’s options are pre-defined and centre on the child’s name and appearance (https://help.librio.com/article/158-can-i-add-additional-information-about-the-protagonist-in-the-story).
  • The eBook first, then the full book in your hands to edit. After the story is created (€3.99), you read every page, change any word and redraw any picture (12 redraws included per story). The eBook is yours, and the hardcover (€24.99) is optional.
  • The story with the hardcover costs €28.98 before shipping. A Librio hardcover costs €44.99, its softcover €34.99.
